Areas We Serve
Travel times vary with traffic and the road you take; call us and we will give you directions from your exact location.
Naivasha town
Our closest town. Families can reach Mirera by heading south along the Naivasha–Mai Mahiu Road towards Mt. Longonot – a short drive that makes frequent visits easy.
Nakuru town
Travel south on the Nakuru–Nairobi highway to Naivasha, then follow the Mai Mahiu road to Mirera. It is a straightforward trip for a day visit or family session.
Gilgil
Gilgil sits on the highway between Nakuru and Naivasha, so families from Gilgil and the surrounding farms are well placed for regular visits.
Mai Mahiu
Mirera lies on the road between Naivasha and Mai Mahiu, making us one of the most accessible options for families in the Mai Mahiu area.
Kinangop
Families from the Kinangop plateau travel down towards Naivasha and on to the Mai Mahiu road.
Narok road area
Communities along the Mai Mahiu–Narok road can reach Mirera by heading towards Mai Mahiu and on to the Naivasha road.
Local Support for Local Families
Easier visits, family therapy and aftercare close to home. When treatment happens within the county, parents, spouses and children do not have to plan a long journey every time they want to see their loved one. Shorter trips mean families can attend therapy sessions more often, and that involvement is one of the strongest protections against relapse.
Being local also helps after the residential stay ends. Clients returning to Nakuru, Naivasha, Gilgil or Mai Mahiu stay within reach of our team for follow-up support, and families know exactly where to turn if they are worried.
Understanding Addiction in Our Communities
Across Nakuru County, families come to us about many different problems. Some are worried about heavy drinking of beer, spirits or illicit brews. Others are concerned about young people using bhang, chewing miraa or muguka for long hours, or depending on prescription medicines. Many cases involve more than one substance.
Whatever the substance, addiction is a treatable health condition, not a moral failure. It affects work on the farm and in town, school results, finances and relationships. The earlier a family reaches out, the sooner the person can begin to recover.
How Treatment Works at Our Centre
Every client begins with a free, confidential assessment, by phone or in person. From there we agree a personal treatment plan and admission date. Where needed, treatment starts with medically supervised detox so withdrawal is managed as safely and comfortably as possible.
The residential programme usually lasts 30 to 90 days and includes individual counselling, group therapy and family therapy, alongside rest, healthy meals and a structured daily routine in a calm setting near Mt. Longonot. Before going home, each client prepares a relapse-prevention plan and joins our aftercare programme.
